Our Of Counsel technology law specialist, Richard Magnan, regularly attends and contributes to industry events (including in London, Montreux and Frankfurt this year). Attending both legal and IT seminars, he encounters different perspectives about the advice provided by legal departments. Usually, legal departments believe they are providing sufficient advice to IT. On the other hand, Richard heard from IT leaders who described legal advice as: non-existent, too vague, or too conservative (such that their safeguards would unduly hinder the business).

With a rare combination of both IT and legal educations and extensive practical experience, Richard can effectively advise on issues concerning the convergence of technology and the law.
